Watch Kill the Messenger Movie Streaming Free, Large mainstream newspapers including the Los Angeles Times and the Washington Post, initially criticized for ignoring the story, were implicated in helping to discredit Webb.

Webb was exiled to a small bureau and assigned local stories of the sort given to fledging reporters. He resigned.

Webb and his wife Sue (Rosemarie DeWitt) grew apart and he moved out of the home they shared with their three children. Sadly, Webb was never able to find a job at a newspaper again, and died in 2006 at the age of 49 of an apparent suicide. (While some theorize the two gunshots to his head point to murder, the film doesn't explore this angle.)

The film may posthumously restore Webb's reputation. It portrays a dedicated and dogged reporter, without sanctifying him. It does, however, add a few Hollywood-ized moments. His initial tip came from Coral (Paz Vega), the impossibly glamorous girlfriend of a drug dealer.

Watch Kill the Messenger Full Movie More troubling, though, are threads left dangling. The story is intermittently vague, not delving deeply enough into shadowy threats nor specific criticisms of Webb's reporting. While it does a fine job illustrating the tragedy of demonizing an idealistic journalist, there remain holes in the story.

Given the context of questions about Webb's investigative thoroughness, these incomplete segments particularly stand out.

As embodied by Renner, Webb is a convincing crusader. Supporting roles are also impressive, particularly DeWitt as Webb's caring but disenchanted wife.

Kill the Messenger is an intriguing, chilling and briskly paced film that, despite its flaws, seems particularly timely, given the level of distrust for the government and its intelligence-gathering efforts.
